        As technology continues to evolve, Management Information System (MIS) has become essential to the survival of organizations. According to our textbook, MIS is the “management and use of information systems” to help organizations achieve their strategic vision, mission and goals. (Kroenke & Boyle, 2022). The purpose of this report is to demonstrate mastery of theories and concepts through real-life application by analyzing how MIS can transform the operations of Benchmark Scientific. This report will identify ways that Benchmark Scientific has used information systems to support business processes and to recommend specific courses of action that will lead to further improvements in the long-run.
        Benchmark Scientific uses various MIS systems for their business: Enterprise Resource Planning to help with inventory management, order processing, and accounting; Business Intelligence and Data Analytics to analyze their sales, customers, and market demand. They are able to make informed decisions about potential growth opportunities and determine which products are most popular. In addition, Benchmark Scientific uses online resources to market to targeted audiences to sell their products and spread awareness to potential customers. Even though Benchmark Scientifics has used MIS to achieve a level of success, there are more opportunities for improvement. Benchmark Scientific is considered a small company that has thrived in the last couple of years and with MIS has a promising future in the medical equipment industry.

Background on Benchmark Scientific
        Benchmark Scientific, which was founded in 2004, is located in Sayreville New Jersey. According to their Duns and Bradstreet, they generated more than $5 millions in revenue annually (2024). They are a small company with 54 employees with more than 400 customers globally. They have many sales representatives nationwide as well as in Europe. Their International sales representative team has focused on establishing a strong network and communication with international prospects, developing a great understanding on how cultural and legal differences are changing the market globally. The most important priority for the organization is customer relationship management. Everyone in the company works together as a team to ensure that customers receive nothing but excellence!

Operational Manager Biography: Maxine Palmer

        Maxine Palmer is a seasoned Operational Manager with over 20 years of experience in this position as well as in procurement management. She is native New Jersian and has worked in several companies including Corning, a glass science and manufacturing company. Maxine developed a strong sense of devotion for the medical equipment industry. This experience gave her a deep appreciation for how laboratory equipment seeks to improve the quality of life for our society. She has helped the Demsia family (Owners of Benchmark Scientific) achieve their goals that led them to increase revenues in the last five years.
